RFID race timing for fitness racing

Every run.
Every station.
Every split.

Split Line is a complete timing system for Hyrox-style simulations, gym competitions and multi-station fitness races. We supply the mats, aerials, chips and readers, plus a live results portal that athletes and spectators can follow as the race happens.

Debuting at Race Wanaka, November 2026. Now taking bookings for events from December.

Who it's for

Built for the way fitness races actually run

Hyrox-style simulations

Run a lap, hit a station, repeat. Split Line times every run and every trip through the workout zone, so athletes go home with a full race breakdown instead of a single finish time.

Gym in-house competitions

Turn your gym floor into a race venue for the day. The Gym Day Pack gets you the kit, chips and live portal for $499, and members get results they'll want to screenshot and share.

Split League

Gym against gym, every month

The Split League is an inter-gym competition. Gyms join the league and we send each one the Split Line timing platform. Every month we set the workout, built from equipment most gyms already have, and each gym runs the round on its own floor. Every athlete is timed in real time, and results from every gym feed one league table.

  1. Join and get the kit

Your gym signs up for the season. We send the timing platform: mats, aerials, readers and numbered chips.

  2. We set the workout

A new workout every month, the same for every gym, so results compare fairly.

  3. Race on your own floor

Run the round at your gym. Every workstation is separated by a run, and every split is timed.

  4. One live league table

Athletes score points for their gym, and results from every gym land on the table as they happen.

How it works

Set up for your course, not ours

Every event runs a little differently. Tell us your format and we set up the timing points, course rules and split logic to match it.

4 timing points

Start, finish, zone in and zone out. Athletes come into the zone after each run lap, so every athlete gets a split for each run and each zone visit.

  • Run splits for every lap
  • Zone splits for every station round
  • Total time, rankings and gaps, updated live

  2. 2

    We configure the kit

Timing points, course rules and split logic are set up for your event before anything ships.

  3. 3

    Athletes get a chip

Each athlete is matched to a numbered chip at check-in and wears it on the ankle or wrist.

  4. 4

    Results go live

Every crossing is read, matched and posted to the portal while the race is on.

The kit

Everything you need, from the mat to the leaderboard

Floor timing mats

Low-profile antenna mats for start, finish and zone lines. They go down on gym floors, turf or tarmac.

Horizontal aerials

Side-mounted aerials for anywhere mats don't suit, such as sled lanes, narrow entries and outdoor chutes.

RFID timing chips

Reusable chips, each with its own number, worn on an ankle or wrist strap.

Timing readers

Rugged readers that capture every crossing and send reads straight to the timing software.

Timing software

Matches reads to athletes, applies your course rules and works out every split as it happens.

Live race portal

Live leaderboards, athlete split pages and a big-screen mode, on a per-event subscription.

Registration (optional)

If you need entries handled too, we can run registration and payments, and athletes flow straight into timing.

On-site support (optional)

Run it yourself with remote support, or have a Split Line technician on site for race day.

Timing chips

One numbered chip per athlete

Every Split Line chip has its own number, printed on the case and coded into the chip. At check-in each athlete is matched to their chip, so every crossing on the course is recorded against the right name.

  1. A number you can read

The number on the case is the code the readers pick up, so chips are easy to sort, hand out and check by eye.

  2. Matched at check-in

Scan the chip or type its number against the athlete's entry. That match follows them to every timing point and onto the live portal.

  3. Worn on the ankle or wrist

A soft hook-and-loop strap holds the chip in place through runs, sleds and wall balls, and fits any athlete.

  4. Collected and reused

Chips come back at the finish line, ready for your next race.

The race portal

Live results, the moment they happen

Athletes check their splits between stations, crowds follow their friends from the stands, and your results are published the moment the last athlete crosses the line.

  • Live leaderboards by category: open, pro, doubles, relay and age group
  • Athlete pages with every run, zone and station split
  • Big-screen mode for the venue display
  • Waves & heats with staggered start times
  • Officials' tools for corrections and penalties
  • Shareable results and CSV export
  • Your branding and sponsor placements
  • Search by name, bib or team

The Split Line timing software in testing for Race Wanaka

    Proven at Race Wanaka

Built for our own race first

Race Wanaka is our home event and the first full-scale outing for Split Line. Every athlete, every lap and every station will be timed live in Wānaka this November.

We built the system to the standard we needed as race organisers. After Race Wanaka we're opening Split Line to gyms, clubs and event organisers who want the same race-day experience.

    • Start, finish, zone-in and zone-out timing
    • Live results portal for athletes and spectators
    • Same hardware and software you rent or buy from us

Race Wanaka on 28 November is Race 1 of the Split Race Series, nine Hyrox-format races across New Zealand through to September 2027.

      FAQ

      Good questions

Can't see yours here? Ask it in the form below.

Do I need to be a timing expert to run it?

No. Rental kits are set up for your course before they ship, come with a setup guide, and include remote support on race day. For bigger events you can book a Split Line technician to run timing on site.

Can you time each station individually?

Yes. The base setup times the start, the finish and the workout zone (in and out). Add a timing point at any station to get individual station and transition splits. You can time all stations or just the ones you care about.

Does it work indoors on a gym floor?

Yes. The mats lie flat on gym flooring, turf and hard surfaces, and the horizontal aerials cover lanes where a mat would get in the way, such as sled tracks.

How many athletes can you handle?

From a 20-person gym comp up to several thousand athletes across waves and heats. Singles, doubles and relay teams are all supported.

We already have a registration system. Can we keep it?

Yes. Send us an athlete list (CSV works) and we'll import it into timing. If you don't have one, we can run registration and payments for you.

      Should I rent or buy?

Most organisers start by renting. If you run a lot of events, such as a gym running monthly comps or a race series, buying usually works out cheaper over a season. The estimator above shows the break-even point.

      Where do you operate?

We're based in New Zealand and ship kits nationwide. Australian and other international events are welcome; get in touch about freight and support.
