Hyrox-style simulations

Timing for Hyrox-style simulations

Every run lap and every workstation, timed with RFID chips and posted live. Split Line gives your simulation day the results athletes expect from a real race.

What gets timed

A Hyrox-style race alternates runs with workstations. Athletes run a lap, enter the workout zone, complete a station, leave the zone and run again. Split Line puts a timing point on each of those lines:

  • Start and finish: the gun and the finish line.
  • Zone in: each time an athlete finishes a run lap and enters the workout zone.
  • Zone out: each time they leave the zone to start the next run.

That base setup of four timing points gives every athlete a split for each run and each station round. Add a timing point at any station and the portal breaks the zone down further, into individual station times and transitions. See the course diagram.

A results sheet, not just a finish time

  • Live leaderboards by category: singles, doubles, relays and age groups.
  • An athlete page for everyone, with each run and station split.
  • Live tracking for spectators: who is on course, which station they are on and where they go next.
  • Big-screen mode for the venue display.
  • Final results the moment the last athlete finishes, with a CSV export.

Doubles and relays

In doubles, either partner's chip moves the team on, and the team finishes when the last partner crosses the line. In relays the course is split by leg, so each leg's time belongs to the right athlete.

Planning your simulation day

  1. Choose the format. Singles, doubles, relays or a mix, and how many stations.
  2. Plan the run loop. Indoors around the gym or outside in a carpark, park or street. Athletes pass the zone entry after each lap.
  3. Set your waves. Staggered starts keep the workout zone from overloading, and the portal handles them for you.
  4. Check in with numbered chips. Each athlete is matched to a chip and wears it on the ankle or wrist.
  5. Race and publish. Results go live as athletes finish.

What it costs

For a gym running a simulation for up to 100 athletes, the Gym Day Pack is $499 for the day: timing kit, reusable chips for every athlete and the live results portal. Bigger events pay for the portal by size (from $390 per event) plus a base kit rental of $1,450, with extra timing points at $290 each. Freight is charged at cost. All prices NZD excluding GST.

FAQ

Questions

What happens if a chip isn't read at a mat?

The portal steps over the missed read and estimates that split from the athlete's other times, and marks it so organisers can see it. One missed read doesn't throw out a result.

Do we have to use the same stations as HYROX?

No. Use any stations, in any order, with any run distance. We set up the course rules for your format before the kit ships.

Do we need a technician on the day?

Not usually. Kits come set up for your course with a setup guide, and remote support is included on race day. For bigger events you can book an on-site technician for $650 per day plus travel.

Is Split Line affiliated with HYROX?

No. "Hyrox-style" describes the race format. Split Line is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by HYROX.
